if the coaching staff is worth its weight in texas oil, we'll be fine, as they should be able to develop guys. we're not out there playing 8 games against SEC rosters stacked with 4/5 star talent, you can win with 2 and 3 star talent if you get guys with good measureables and coach them up - get em in the weight room for their redshirts, etc.

This is true.  I'm not in panic mode, I'm just making an observation that recurring was disappointing, especially after the year we had, and one likely scenario was CWT had decided to coast a little.

He probably figured that what he put in place was sufficient to dominate the AAC for the foreseeable future so why kill himself.

I agree. Can't panic. Even if this class doesn't turn out to be great it's because of the staff turnover and there's nothing we can do about that. We have a staff now chock fill of Plus recruiters. It will get better.

That being said i forseee a strong close here but with a very different class.

The recruits will have a number of years to show what they can do in the college game.  Highlight mixtapes don't mean a whole lot.

"slick Willie" seems unnecessarily disrespectful to me...

I don't think you can even compare Holtz recruiting to Taggart recruiting in anyway.

Holtz did NOTHING at the QB position. He inherited 3 years of BJ Daniels and still got fired. After the 2012 season, the QB's on Roster were Matt Floyd and Bobby & Tommy Eveld.

That was it.

Next years'  team has coming back, Sr. Quinton Flowers, So. Brett Kean and RFr. Chris Oladokun (who we keep hearing good things about). I am not worried about one off year in recruiting that is common with any coaching change. It just means Strong will need a good recruiting year next season.

The fact that he lied about CWT stealing our 3 top recruits and used a not very well thought of recruiting site because that one fit his agenda, the slick willie was to be expected ...

Every year we gotta deal with this

The primary driver of the #20 to #128 ranking for recruiting classes is NUMBER OF PLAYERS

When you re-rank the teams based on average stars - which none of the online services do - it doesn't change #1 to #20 much, but our class will look much better

We have a low ranking because we have a SMALL class, not because we have a Kragthorpe-Holtz'd class

And no, Willie did not give up on recruiting because he was leaving - he continued to recruit just as heavily as ever. That said, stealing his recruits for OU does sting a bit

Half right.  Size of class is definitely a factor in most ranking systems.

Number of people paying the ranking service for insider access is a much bigger driver.  It's all about the $$$.  I could take over as head coach at Bama, recruit a bunch of one stars and they would magically become a Top 10 recruiting class.

It's really useless to look at ratings.

Looks like xCWT is trying to make room for more recruits before NSD.
