Hi everyone. Wanted to check in from San Jose State  message board and see if anyone needed advice on restaurants or hotels or anything. I'm already having nightmares about containing Flowers.

As you might already know we have a couple of really good players on Defense in Chachere + Ginda but everything thing else is kind of a question mark including the brand new coaching staff.  Besides Flowers who should we be aware of?

This game is interesting because its one of only a few games on the opening weekend. With Mayweather vs McGregor on right afterwards downtown San Jose should be booming!

Welcome to the board.  I would really appreciate some help with good spots to go to around the SJSU area.  We are likely looking to hangout somewhere Friday night and then again after game Saturday.  Most are near the airport or downtown I imagine.  I think our only stated requirement is "full bar needed"! :)

I appreciate your offering to help us out.

I'd also invite you to share a little about your team on the main board.  We'd also be happy to share some thoughts as well.  Never too early to start discussing the game.  You may find some very overconfident Bulls here, but they mostly behave.

Thanks,

Brad

the great thing is that a lot of the best bars are all near each other in downtown SJ which is only really a 7  minute uber ride. I would check out the following:

San Pedro Square. This whole street is really cool and filled with the best bars in the city in my opinion. Besides the San Pedro Market which is awesome itself  Ones to check out include:

Old Wagon

Firehouse

All are right next to each other.

Since you mentioned you are near the airport if you like gambling Casino M8trix is a pretty nice casino right across the street. Also has a nice bar.

Food I highly recommend trying when here

La Victoria. The best burritos you will find and people travel for miles just to try their "orange sauce". 2 locations in downtown San Jose including one  right next to San Pedro Square.

If you need a breakfast spot I highly recommend Bill's Cafe. Also near the airport.

If you want fancy upscale bars Santana Row is a nice outdoor shopping outlet with tons of bars and fancy restaurants. Nice setting at night.

I don't live in SJ, but I spend a bit of time there for work. These are the places I like in the area. Just to name a few. There are quite a few more I'm sure I missed. Northern Cali has some pretty awesome craft beers and breweries.

San Jose -

Hermitage Brewing Company https://hermitagebrewing.com/ Their Single Hop Series is excellent. There was a taco truck outside the last visit.

Mission Creek Brewing Company missioncreekbrewingco.com Once again, hop forward beers mostly. They're inside of the Wholefoods, so food is around. They also have a decent list of other local-ish beers ie... Drakes, Fieldwork, Devil's Canyon, Bike Dog, Ale Industries etc...

Strike Brewing Co. and Warehouse Taproom http://www.strikebrewingco.com/ More IPA's. They close pretty early.

San Jose Tap houses -

Good Karma http://goodkarmasj.com/ This place is a craft beer/vegan restaurant. So, if that type of food isn't your thing... I'd only go for the beer, to be honest. Their tap list is mostly Cali beers and outstanding.

Original Gravity Public House http://www.originalgravitypub.com/ This is my favorite place in the area. Huge tap list and amazing bottle selection. Tons of rare and harder to find (limited Cali distribution etc...) beers. They have some pretty good gourmet sausages and such.

Greater San Francisco area - If you had more days and wanted to venture out there are endless breweries and things you could do. Sante Adairius (Capitola), Russian River (Santa Rosa), 21st Amendment (SF), Mikkeller (SF), Cellarmaker (SF), The Rare Barrel (Berkeley), Almanac (SF), Drakes (San Leandro), Torpedo Taproom, Sierra Nevada beer (Berkeley), Lagunitas (Petaluma) and on and on. Hell, Sacramento (Track &, Moonraker) and the Central Coast (Firestone Walker, Barrelworks, and Libertine) have some amazing breweries as well.

I'll be looking for beer from Sante Adairius, Cellarmaker, Fieldwork, and a few others. I will be there Friday night August 25th and will definitely be around SJ. Beer will be involved. Hope to see ya!

Just booked Fri and Sat night at the Marriott in downtown San Jose.  Flying in to San Francisco on Wednesday and spending a couple of days in the land of Nancy Pelosi.

Looking forward to the Bull invasion of No Cal!

Eat in San Jose - Henry's Hi-Life.  Close to the campus and stadium.

Now toying with the idea of a trip with my wife, likely a Wed-Mon trip.  Toying with hitting some nearby areas, like Carmel-by-the-Sea.  We've been to SF, so I don't think we need to hit that.

Not sure where the stadium is relative to down town, but will look into it.

Any suggestions on nearby sight seeing is appreciated, and certainly would be interested in a Bulls gathering.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
