With the final rankings and the too-early rankings for next season in, including a new coaching staff almost completed, how do you compare it?

Just football team, football success. It's not fair to consider conference affiliation, as the teams had/have no control over that.

07... I have a feeling that 17 might blow 07 out of the water.

One team finished ranked #19 and one did not finished ranked at all...I'll take 2016 team all day long.

07 had a few great wins but also had 3 losses to unranked conference teams.  I'd vote this past one the greatest season, especially considering taking out an SEC team in a bowl game and Top 20 final ranking.

If they played in the first half of the season, the 07 team would have won - play the game in the second half of the season, or in a bowl game, the 16 team would have won.

Overall, the 16 team was better. Finished ranked with a P5 bowl victory

2007 team.. Think this team would have had more than four losses in 2007.

2007 for all the reasons listed above PLUS getting to #2 in the country when were discussed all the time in the media.

Ya. Without a Conference Championship I'll take the #2 ranking, the big wins over ranked teams over one extra win, end of season ranking and the bowl win.

2007 was electric. For some reason, maybe the competition, the loss to FSU this season just didn't have the feeling.

2007 was an electric year and I'll never forget what the team was made of. Grothe was one of the most determined football players I've seen to that point. Still not sure what happened at the end there, but that was a gauntlet of a schedule. I bet Houston feels exactly what that 2007 Bulls team felt; beat the big dogs but fall flat on the road in conference.

This year felt like the redemption year for the program, staff and players. They were determined to show up and show out every game; and outside of two games they accomplished that. Unfortunately, we lost to the worst conference foe we could (well sans C Florida,)  and didn't get a chance to play for a AACCG. Honestly, this year was a very fun ride and winning two more games than 2007 definitely means something. I'm hoping what happened this year is just the launching point for what the new staff brings.

Honestly 2007 was more electric with the programs we beat, but it was deflating at the end. 2016 was sweet all the way through outside of two games. Both years we beat C. Florida so I'll take both as major successes :D
