Problem is . . .

Most "Name" teams want an easier Non-Conference and teams like US want a harder Non-Conference.

I want us to stop playing 1AA teams.

Go BULLS !!!

We don't even play good 1-AA teams. Hell, I'd be in favor of us dropping Stony Brook for NDSU.

How about Miami? I'm sure they would cancel a road opener at Arkansas State for a home game against USF. Problem is that they will be really tough to knock off, even with a new QB.

On the same date, Sept 2, Oregon is playing Southern Utah.

Saturday
Sep. 2
Thunderbirds Southern Utah Thunderbirds
Autzen Stadium, Eugene, OR
Time TBA
TV TBA

Perhaps, with Taggart and Leavitt there, we can get a series with Oregon and play the first game there in '17, with a return date at USF.

Since, they apparently want to recruit some Florida athletes, this would allow such players an opportunity to have their families see them play.

I hope Harlan at least tried to broach that subject when discussing the buyout portion of Taggart's contract with Oregon.

Nah, leave it alone.  I want to go undefeated next year.

Too late in game to try to get anyone to come to RJS.  Almost everyone else plays FCS opponents, so one is fine.  You need a warmup to work out the kinks.  If anything, SJSU and UMass should have been replaced with better opponents.  But no way you are going to get anyone, especially coming off an 11-2 year.  Who's going to sign on to play USF?

if you want P5 home games you have to schedule them YEARS ahead of time.

Memphis has UCLA at the Liberty Bowl this upcoming season. We had to schedule that game back in 2014 just to get a home game in 2017.

I'm not looking for a home game, I am talking about a road game.

My immediate thought was Western Michigan, but they have a nice OOC schedule next year. Then I thought of Boise, but they put a solid one together, too. I even looked up LA Tech and they have a better schedule than we do. South Alabama, awesome OOC. Maybe we can get Old Dominion to come to Tampa on 9/2. But they already have UNC and VT on their schedule.

Again, the original post was that this was a far-fetched idea, but there are teams that have FCS games scheduled 9/2 and 9/9 that we could potentially buyout and agree to a road game against them. In fact, if I were Harlan, I would lobby for it publicly. Make a news story out of it how no one will schedule us, even if we agree to pay their buyout to their FCS opponent and travel to their house. At least then we would get media coverage out of it.
