I am fine with this. Also who knows how long Gilbert stays before moving up as a coach so maybe coaching different positions is a good thing if King wants to be a OC in near future which I would think he wants.

Great move to keep him. Shaun knows the run, don't forget he was a dual-threat himself and this gives our QBs two very experienced tutors with two different angles. Yeah he gets to stay & help with recruiting too, but I think he'll make a solid RB coach.

KING NAMED RUNNING BACKS COACH

January 07, 2017

Offensive coordinator Sterlin Gilbert will also coach quarterbacks

TAMPA, JAN. 7, 2017 – University of South Florida head football coach Charlie Strong today announced Shaun King will remain a part of the USF coaching staff as running backs coach.

King, a Bay Area native, joined the USF staff in 2016 and coached the Bulls’ quarterbacks during a record-setting season for the USF offense and American Conference Offensive Player of the Year Quinton Flowers. Sterlin Gilbert, who was named the Bulls’ offensive coordinator earlier in the week, will also coach quarterbacks as he previously has done during highly successful stops at Texas, Tulsa, Bowling Green and Eastern Illinois.

King, a former Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Tulane quarterback, had a very successful first season in collegiate coaching after joining the USF staff in February. King helped guide Flowers to numerous USF season records including marks for total offense (4,337 yards), total touchdowns (42), passing touchdowns (24), rushing yards (1,530) and rushing touchdowns (18). Flowers rushing total of 1,530 yards ranks as the fifth-best mark ever by an FBS quarterback and his 7.73 yards per carry average ranks fourth among all FBS players in 2016.

The USF offense set nearly 40 team and individual records, including team records for total yards (6,650), rushing yards (3,714) and scoring (569 points), while the Bulls posted a school-record 11-2 mark, achieved a Top 25 ranking and won the program’s fifth bowl game.

Season ticket deposits for the 2017 season start at $50 per seat and can be placed at USFBullsTix.com. The Bulls will play seven home games in Raymond James Stadium in 2017, hosting notable games vs. Illinois, Houston, Temple, Tulsa and Cincinnati.

I guess he passed the "What HS is off this exit test?"  given by Coach Strong. The bad news is the other guys didn't pass.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
