TAMPA, JAN. 4, 2017 – Murry Bartow, the new leading man for USF men’s basketball, plans to tirelessly teach in an effort to help the young Bulls reach their full potential.

A day after leading the Bulls through a spirited practice for the first time, USF’s interim head coach talked about the plan he’s putting in place for the final 16 games of the regular season.

“What I can promise (fans) is we’re going to work incredibly hard. Nobody is going to outwork us with what we do on a daily basis,” Bartow said Wednesday. “I think a lot of that starts with who we are off the floor and then bringing that on the floor. We’re going to grind, we’re going to work and I think you’ll see a team that will grow and get better over the coming weeks and the coming months.”

Building a winning identity is something Bartow has done on a continuous basis in his 18 seasons as a collegiate head coach. Previously the coach of the year in the Southern Conference (2004) and Atlantic Sun (2007), Bartow has racked up 327 victories in his career that’s included 14 winning seasons.

“I’m kind of a grinder, I’m a daily routine guy,” Bartow said. “I’m just going to take it day by day. I think the most important thing is investing every ounce of energy I’ve got with each player on the team. Working with that player individually, showing them tape, working with him off the floor, working with him on the floor.”

I watched Last Chance U on netick last night (good series about Juco football) and I was surprised coaches cursed at student athletes like that. I wonder if that happens at USF athletics?
