He had a college degree. It was the Masters degree he lied about. Lying on the resume was grounds for not getting the job. Just as if you and I lied about it and got caught on a background check.

The UK Office of Public Relations confirmed to The Tampa Tribune that Masiello was a student there from 1996 to 2000. He was a walk-on basketball player for Coach Rick Pitino in his first year, then Coach Tubby Smith for his final three seasons. According to UK records, Masiello never received a degree.

Man and he even lied about it being his Masters degree. What a crook!

I think college degree is a requirement for employment in that position here so they couldn't have hired him at that point.

from his UT-Chatt bio:

Quote

McCall completed his undergraduate degree in exercise and sports science in 2004. His master’s work in the same concentration was accomplished in May 2006.

he came up under Mike Jarvis at FAU, and Billy D at Florida...he completed his first season as Head Coach at UT-Chatt, taking them 29-6 with an NCAA tourney.

Before hiring the next MBB coach Harlan should consult with one of the local Santerias to see about removing the bad juju from the Indian burial ground.

another option is Steve Forbes (guy who replaced Murry Bartow at ETSU)

took Northwest Florida State to a record of 61-6 in his 2 seasons there...back-to-back NJCAA runner up.

asst coach under Bruce Pearl and Gregg Marshall.

took ETSU to a record of 24-12 last season.

I'm pretty sure Masiello's bio at Manhattan, pre 2014, said he had an undergraduate degree from Kentucky, too ......... Mine was more a rhetorical "Link?". I'm sure MH has learned his lesson and resumes will be verified before an offer goes out.

I was hard on the Antigua hire because he's a recruiter, not a coach...you now have a really good Xs and Os coach in Murry Bartow (son of Gene Bartow)

USF needs to hire Matt McCall from UT-Chatt...former asst at Florida and FAU...young guy, won 29 games last season.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matt_McCall_(basketball)

I would be all for hiring McCall!

The list of potential replacements will be lengthy, but a name to consider is UCLA assistant David Grace, whose tenure in Westwoood coincided with Harlan's for roughly a year. A source told the Tampa Bay Times on Tuesday that Grace covets the Bulls job.
