In fact, had USC had a top NFL pick, it's likely they would have sat. Same for Bulls. These bowl games have value limited only to the teams participating in that they get extra practices other teams don't. Stop thinking these silly bowls matter outside the natural desire to see our team win.

After just losing the coach that built them, a win like that should give them a lot of faith in themselves. That's something much better to dwell on for the off-season. My guess is they won in spite of him. I think QF and others had the confidence to win after overcoming the feelings of betrayal. Athletes and team members can overcome betrayal rather quickly by coming together.

What was CWT's record? So you are saying Skippy left us better off because he won a bowl game?

Skippy is tied for second in all time bowl victories for head coaches at USF. I appreciate his unblemished post-season work. I mean, he's tied with TJ Weist in that category. But he falls well short of Weist's overall winning percentage as head coach.

It's something that certainly has an effect over the course of an entire season, but for one game, it can be overcome.

But I won't bat an eye if he fails at Oregon. He would've brought on himself.
