The NCAA basketball tourney is so successful because (in part) the Cinderellas have a chance every year (that and hella gambling).

Something similar has to be possible for CFB as well.

Yes, if the playoffs were expanded to 12 teams or so, then a G5 team or two could get in (presumably).

Even if it were 5 P5 champions and 3 at large, that is still better odds for the G5 getting one of the 3 at large than being ranked top 4 by the committee. With 8 teams a G5 need only be ranked in he top 8.... right guys... am I right...? Yep.

If Houston had gone undefeated they could have made it in with the way they were hyped preseason.

NIU athletic director can eat a bag of d's.

First step towards a relegation system?  I can only dream.

Very doubtful.  And they didn't come close, in the end.

Sure, most of us have green-and-gold bias.  But the system that's in place makes it all but impossible for a full half of the teams to ever get a shot at a national championship. That's crap. At the very least, there should be a clause that an undefeated G5 gets a seat.

Its like anything political, people vote in their best interests.

For the G5 the best interest would be an auto slot. For the P5, the people in control, it isnt. It isnt that hard to fathom that the playoffs will expand and there will be little to no consideration for the G5. Especially when the "half" that is upset represents a fraction of the revenue.

Agreed. It's just really frustrating that a competitive sport has any politics to it at all. That the game itself takes a back seat to the money involved. Different rules for different teams depending on how much a network is willing to pay for their media rights. It's ludicrous.

Don't forget the Big East... they laughed at the big east, but look at the basketball power it has become, I bet they are not laughing any longer.
