My understanding is he gets MORE total cash to coach.  He gets $5MM a year for 2 years, reduced by 50% of what another school pays him.  So, if USF paid him $2MM, he'd get [5 - (2 * .5)] + 2 = 6MM

So, yeah...makes more $$, but also puts himself in position for a good pay day here in year 3...or somewhere else, once he shows Texas was a bad fit/too short fuse by UT.

My suggestion is we pay Strong $1 (one dollar) for 2 years, bank the $2MM a year & load him up on year 3 & beyond.  Screw Texas. (that said, I'm sure UT lawyers covered this scenario, but I hope Harlan checks it hard).

Taggart is a good coach... but really like Charlie Strong.  Always have.  I think he could actually do some things with the current defensive guys.  We're not lacking for talent... we need a better scheme and DC.  I think we'll keep something similar to what we've run on offense and he'll put that grit into the defense we've missed... really since CJL was terminated.  This makes me happy and I think it will excite the fan base.  The best move USF could have made moving forward.
