From what I have seen, he basically gets his $5,000,000 from Texas plus 1/2 of what we would pay him (he would owe the other half  to Texas).

I liked this, and I know this is in jest, but is it not absolutely true given what everyone else is saying.  Strong gets the same no matter what and could really throw the middle finger up at Texas.

You gotta go push your AD for a home and home. This was a great, real, unmanufactured rivalry, with legitimate things to play for and some famous games. I would for USF to play WVU again.

It looks like this is what they are going to do.  It both saves USF lots of money, and gives the ability for Strong to give a big middle finder to UT:

"who could come rather cheap for the first part of the deal, as it appears the University of Texas will remain on the hook for paying Strong much of the $11 million buyout he had when he was fired by the Longhorns."
