Taggart got it done for sure and improved every year - but was snatched away. Your conference is now the springboard for coaches. I think Oregon should have hired Leavitt though. Consider what both did at USF. Jim recruited his first class with no games the next year. No facilities. His budget for assistants was $90,000. Understand, that was for NINE coaches! No history and on and on. These were just insurmountable odds of success. He later competed in the Big East against Pitt, W Virginia, Rutgers (good at the time) Louisville and W Virginia. Taggart came into a mess for sure and no talent. He built it back. But he had money and the aforementioned teams were replaced with Tulsa, SMU, Tulane and E Carolina. Jim then went to 3 playoff games in the NFL and a Super Bowl. Once again, with not much talent he helped CU to a 10 win season. The defense was a big big factor in their season. Pac 12 coaches were quoted as saying it was the scheme at CU, that the talent was not great. They had a guy in their conference who would have brought them back. Oregon always hires an offensive guy however. If Taggart is smart, he will work hard to get Jim and let him run the D while he concentrates on O. Will he go there? No idea, but it would sure be a good move! You will be fine - there are lots of good coaches available. And recruiting is fantastic. Just hope you avoid another Holtz! I hope that you appreciate what Jim did to start your program. He loved every minute of it. He really did. 2

What a trio! DOH! Skip has head coached in more championship games than Leavitt. 2

Leavitt would still be the coach and maybe part of P5. I will always believe that Judy made one of the biggest mistakes in USF history by firing Leavitt.,
