Keep in mind that the $500,000 we are giving away to Holtz for the crappy work he did here will end after next season. Hopefully that will enable us to be in a position to give Taggart a competitive bump. Unfortunately, given the current economics, I don't think we can ever afford to pay him more than $3 million per year.

And there are plenty of people that would be glad to stay at USF their entire head coaching career.  But we wouldn't want them to be our head coach.

The problem Navy's coach has is that he uses a particular type of offense that many probably don't want. Thus, he has only had one offer (BYU) since he has been there. But your point is well taken and he is "probably" a lifer for Navy.
