Yeah, because clearly this asshat would have obeyed the law that says he should have an AR.

Right. Because a regular, mentally unstable person with no ties to ISIS whatsoever, has your usual connections to the black market where he could have otherwise purchased a street legal M16.

In the past two weeks Mateen legally purchased a Glock pistol and a long gun, ATF Assistant Special Agent in Charge Trevor Velinor told reporters.

"He is not a prohibited person. They can legally walk into a gun dealership and acquire and purchase firearms. He did so. And he did so within the last week or so," Velinor said.

But its cool. Because the reason we allow people to buy these things is to prevent stuff like this from happening. Throw in the fact that even someone under the investigation of the FBI, AND on a terror watch list as this guy was, can still buy anything in any shop anywhere in the country, we should really allow even more people to buy assault rifles to put an end to this nonsense.

Good reading too. I mean, assuming you're not a member of the NRA.

Yeah, I guess that's what you're supposed to say at this point.

Instead, maybe we should have a depth of inquiry about such things.

I find it crazy that our ham-handed Feds had him in contact about ISIS contacts, but he could still get a gun?

Political Correctness?  The Constitution?

The Constitution.  And the fact that there is one FBI agent for every 5000 "tips" that come in.

Pretty weak for politicians to blame the FBI.  Why don't we give the FBI more resources.

Also, the FBI can't arrest anyone that says something bad.  Something about freedom of speech and Innocent until proven guilty.  You tie two hands behind the FBI's back, and then blame them when something goes wrong?  Our politicians throw the blame there to keep the blame off themselves.

Requirements for obtaining a firearm need to be re-worked. People keep talking about their constitutional right to carry a gun. Those 49 people loss the right to the have the freedom to “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” Why because they were being who they are, something that's supposed to be protected in this country. Yet politicians and radical religious believers continue to take rights from those who need protection the most. This country needs to look into the mirror, do more people need to die before something is done? No one is safe in the country.

I have a more correct answer, Congress.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/powerpost/wp/2015/12/03/senate-democrats-to-force-gun-control-votes-in-the-wake-of-the-san-bernardino-shooting/

The Senate rejected a measure from Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) to expand background checks for guns purchased online and at gun shows on a 48 to 50 vote and an amendment from Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) to prevent individuals on the terror watch list from purchasing firearms on a 45 to 54 vote. The amendments were offered  to an Obamacare repeal package currently being debated in the Senate and they needed 60 votes to be adopted.

But Trump told us the Democrats are trying to repeal the entire 2nd amendment. Who am I supposed to believe?!?
