I had shoulder surgery a few years back, on a Friday. Saturday my wife propped me up on the couch, turned the tv on the proper channel and said, "I'll see ya after the game!"

Good news is I get to go home in a bit. Right now my paperwork says no driving but that might be just until I feel ready, hope it's not for the two weeks before my follow up. If I'm able to drive I will be there darn it! If I can't, ESPN then.

Oh, I should also add I was in the hospital for 7 days thanks to some bad blood problems (not caught early), so I might not be a good sample to base your decisioning on. What the hell, bring a needle and thread, pint of scotch and you'll be fine.

If you find Skingraft, he may be able to close Tech right up.

Laparoscopic surgery decreases recovery time. As for the driving, it's mostly due to your pain and the need to take your meds. They alter perception a little bit thus making dangerous for the road. If you really want to make it saturday, have someone else drive for you and no brusk movements (jumping, dancing and the sorts). If you do make it out, a tight dressing is preferable to hold the injury site nice and firm. I've never had surgery myself but some of our patients have been functional as early as 3 days. Age does play a factor too in recovery. My 2 cents

Thanks for the advice everyone. I went home yesterday, aND have been taking it easy for the most part, moving around as needed. I'm hoping by Friday to not need the pain meds except to sleep, so that will help. But if I'm in doubt. I have a ride lined up. At my current rate of recovery, I WILL be there.
