  1. I was never sold on Dion. He has never proven anything on an FBS level. While he had a great record in FCS it is a whole different ballpark than the FBS Jackson State was already a known brand in the SWAC. On top of that Dion's flash and celebrity culture was able to recruit the best "of the rest" in that level, plus the 1 or 2 FBS level players that were willing. That's no longer the case when you coach at the FBS. Getting the best "of the rest" isn't good enough. Now you are competing with known brands and the (supposed) top tier coaches and support structures for college football. He became the big fish in a small pond to a small (but flashy) fish in a big expensive over the top aquarium. I'm NOT saying Dion will be successful, only that he is unproven in the FBS level. Meanwhile Golesh has experience and success at the top of FBS football. While he wasn't my #1 choice of the rumored candidates, I definitely preferred him over Dion In addition.. I know any successful coach here will be poached to one of the "Power whatever" conference teams. But I would feel that Dion would have one foot out the door from day one, no matter how good he's doing here.
  2. I remember starting to get excited and hopeful when Willie Simmons was rumored to be a strong candidate when the coaching job opened up But I knew it was going to make too much sense and be too much of a perfect fit for USF for it to happen
  3. Late to reply but: FLORIDA A&M RATTLERS – SOUTH FLORIDA BULLS – Tv Sports Live WWW.TVSPORTSLIVE.FR Obviously have a good ad/popup blocker installed
  4. Some people here mention a merger of the remaining PAC4 with some of the AAC. Obviously some of it is wishful thinking since it that would probably be best for USF But why would they do that? Wouldn't a merger with the MWC, or at least the stronger teams of the MWC be the best choice for them? The upper teams are comparable to the AAC plus travel would be a lot easier.
  5. Willie Taggart record: 2013: 2-10 2014: 4-8 Joe Kinnan, known as one of the best coaches in the country, hired as "senior offensive consultant" to help save Taggart's job: 2015: 8-5 2016: 10-2 Back to being without Kinnan 2017: 7-5 2018: 5-7 2019: 4-5 2020: 5-4 2021: 5-7 2022: 5-7 ..Makes you wonder...
  6. Sort of. There is a Athletics Coaching fund that is used to pay for the coaches. What happens is that say you really want him here... you would put your $50 million (using the below example) into the football coaches fund to pay Dion. So that will get added to the total compensation. So if the contract offer is for 5 years/$5 million a year, and you put in $10 million/year ($50 million total), it can now boost the offer to 5 years/$15 million. (or however you and the other main boosters feel like setting the offer) (edited since I thought you said only $10 million, not $10 million a year)
  7. This guy. My sources said this guy was at the Athletics Center and seems to fit the bill:
  8. I'm just here to be on record have contributed in this... another epic HOF dumpster fire cluster ****, of a thread, so I don't get fined.
  9. But why the sudden lack of speculation with USF? Seems that the coaching list would be: 1. Dion 2. Simmons
  10. I haven't hung around here for a long time (only posted twice in over a year I think) so first off.. Hello everyone Second, what happened to Willie Simmons? His name was brought up a lot when the position became available. Now I hear nothing.
  11. Oooooooof that did not look good on the reply. His knee looked like it bent sideways
  12. Think I'm going to go out in the warm muggy night and put up some Halloween decorations
  13. Campbell missed the PAT So the game should be over momentarily
