  1. I don't have an opinion on the USF vs FSU game other than I wanted USF to win as you're an AAC team, and I have family members who are fans. I simply think Ray Jay was a fine home for two decades as USF was just an upstart program...USF isn't an upstart anymore...you're in the AAC where teams can earn Peach and Fiesta Bowl bids...I just think it's time for USF to have their own OCS.
  2. I mean, my sister and my brother-in-law live in Lutz and attend USF football games...they were complaining just this season how the USF vs FSU game felt more like a FSU home game, and lacked that true 'home game' feel. that said, we could sit here and argue all day and I doubt one would change the others mind.
  3. my pro team is Green Bay, and my college team is Memphis... my dad sat through 30 years without a Super Bowl or a Memphis Bowl game...I've seen Green Bay play in 3 Super Bowls, and watched my Tigers play in 8 bowl games. I'm just lucky, I guess.
  4. After going to games like Memphis @ Ole Miss, Memphis @ Miss State, and even Memphis @ USM...I can honestly tell you you're wrong...there's nothing like football game day on a FBS college campus.
  5. lol, I started really watching Memphis football in 2003 (senior year of HS) when I was accepted to Memphis. Since then Memphis has played in 8 bowl games, or the exact same amount as USF. We also lead the series 5-4 so you might just rethink that
  6. I simply reject your excuses like UCF and FAU did...they're both better off for it, and even Temple is starting to realize it as well. college football in a half full NFL stadium is not college football. But thats what makes message boards fun, everyone gets their say.
  7. You seem very angry about the whole thing. I don't see why an NFL stadium with red seats and a pirate ship, that's normally only half full for Bulls games engenders such loyalty. I've been there, and it doesn't feel like college football to me.
  8. not as of October. http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/sports/college/Temple-presses-ahead-to-build-a-new-football-stadium-02.html
  9. exactly, that was 8 years ago...events like that are extremely rare. I'm not saying it's impossible, I'm saying it's extremely unlikely.
  10. "a 13-0 USF team getting left out of the CFP for a 10-2 P5 team" a 13-0 USF would most likely be sent to the 'access bowl'...I doubt you'll ever see a G5 team in the playoff unless it's expanded to 6 or 8.
  11. not true (and condescending), the reasons you throw out have been dismissed by professional ADs and Univ Presidents at places like UCF and FAU (along with others)...as a fan of a school who plays in a leased stadium that can't build a true OCS...I can't imagine why a school like USF or Temple would choose not to since they have the ability...and at least Temple is trying to change that.
  12. it's a hypothetical that simply won't happen (you don't make changes this late)...I'm trying to help the OP understand why. sounds like you're jealous USF doesn't have a FedEx (there was no reason to bring them into this)...I understand why, the $$$ is nice. FedExForum: FedExPark: FedEx Institute of Technology at The University of Memphis: the new Video Board at the Liberty Bowl: again, you don't make changes to the 2017 football schedule in Jan of 2017...good luck, though...a strong USF is good for the AAC. USF has a good chance to go undefeated OOC with P5 win...take that and run with it!
  13. here's a link to all confirmed schedules...good luck finding a team with an opening. http://www.fbschedules.com/ncaa/ncaa-football-schedules.php
  14. if you want P5 home games you have to schedule them YEARS ahead of time. Memphis has UCLA at the Liberty Bowl this upcoming season. We had to schedule that game back in 2014 just to get a home game in 2017.
  15. That wouldn't solve the problem of playing at a half full NFL stadium with red seats and a pirate ship.
  16. But no one seems to want to answer: if other schools can do it, why not USF?
  17. I was. Memphis athletics boosters put a plan together for an OCS. It would hold 45,000 and be on the main campus in the only place it could fit. Plans were drawn up and it would cost an estimated 90-100 million. (see link) http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y2/gomemphistigers1/WalkerPatterson.jpg~original our Univ President at the time was 'academics first' and our previous AD was from Temple where he almost killed their football program...so of course when they found out about that plan a 50 million dollar academic building was built there and the athletic dept extended the lease at the Liberty Bowl. now the only place we can build it is the "Park Avenue Campus" which is where the other athletic fields are...it's 1 mile from the main campus, so while it would technically be 'on campus' it would still be off main campus, and the Liberty is only 2 miles away as it is. Park Ave Campus:
  18. their stadium and bowl game are...it's a nice stadium, and they've had good matchups the last couple years.
  19. they would have nothing to do with a privately financed stadium, on USF property would they? I know in Memphis facilities that are privately financed and on school owned property are exempt from Memphis/Shelby County Sports Authority control.
  20. I was one of them...I had a blast! I have seen Memphis play USF twice at The Sun Dome (2-0) I saw Paxton Lynch and Memphis play USF at Ray Jay last season (1-0) and watched Memphis play USF in the St Pete Bowl (0-1) so Memphis is 3-1 in the games I've attended in the Tampa Bay area...and the only one we lost was at least a bowl game, and I won't get upset about playing in a bowl.
  21. it would be cool if USF built an OCS.
  22. lol, FAU can do it...so can USF...stop acting like it's impossible.
  23. Boise St...Potato Bowl is played there Military Bowl is played at Navy's stadium in Annapolis after DC didn't come through with the RFK stadium upgrades. that's off the top of my head
