  1. As a Duck, I don't necessarily disagree regarding CWT's move or the easier route to the playoff, but a few of your other statements are questionable. Uncle Phil has installed a $100M endowment to the athletic department, so the money isn't drying up at Oregon any time soon. Eugene isn't a metropolis, but it's only two hours from Portland, and if you like hiking, hunting, skiing, boating, fishing, crabbing, clamming, beachcombing or sightseeing there's plenty to do, to name a few. I've never quite understood this logic anyway. Tuscaloosa isn't exactly known for its nightlife, is it? What the heck does Tallahassee have that Eugene doesn't, besides heat, humidity and a state capital? Leavitt's contract prohibits him from seeking other jobs during the season, including bowls, so he has not made a deal with FSU, and he won't until after the 16th. I'd like to see Oregon offer him the head coaching position, but I've heard people mention his baggage as "the face of the program," so I have my doubts they'll do it, although I think it would be the best decision.
  2. Actually, it's a Jimmy Johnson reference. He once stated that the Seahawks play their home games in Southern Alaska. I live just outside Seattle, the dank and festering home of the Huskies.
  3. It's your resident poultry here, now celebrating my ninth season as a Bulls fan from the other corner of the country. Congrats on the win over Towson. Many of you probably know that their QB, Morgan Mahalak, is a former Duck. He couldn't crack the 2-deep at Oregon, and from his numbers, it doesn't look like he was too impressive against USF either. As for the uniforms, don't be calling those things "the Oregon look." The Ducks don't do rainbow blends, and although I don't think they're too bad, the "base layer" thing was pretty atrocious. I must say I'm a little torn on the AAC this year. My only connection to USF is the 2007 Sun Bowl (when I first started lurking on this board) but I always found it easy to hate UCF, mostly because of O'Leary I guess. Now they have our former OC, who I think is a great coach, they've definitely upped their uniform game, and they're the Knights (Uncle Phil, you know). Nevertheless, I bought into the Magical Bulls long ago, so FUCF! Anyway, good luck on your season. I think y'all can win the league, and I'll be watching on the few occasions that a USF game is broadcast up here in South Alaska. And oh yeah, Go Ducks!
  4. I This is what I am talking about!!! Ahh, the good old days! How you cattle doing, anyway? Go Bulls! I'll be pulling for my favorite lower-right-coast team again this year!
  5. This in no time for pansy Nega-Bulls and down-in-the-mouth doomsayers; you’ve got FSU right where you want ‘em! I’ll be pre-func-ing near the CLink before the Ducks bash Wazzu, and watching the Bulls take down the Noles. War Flamingo!
  6. Well alright, I guess that settles it! (Still, I'm not a Pitt fan.) Ruck Futgers! I like it; it's a lot like Huck the Fuskies!
  7. Well, I'll feed the frenzy a little more. I'm re-watching it again right now! I wish we had your receivers. Heck, I wish the Seahawks had your receivers. Aren't the Scarlet frickin' Kuh-nites something of a nemesis for us Bull's fans though? Which is bigger, Pitt or Rutgers?
  8. I have to admit it, I missed the end of the game on Saturday, and never saw the final score. I was talking to a friend on the phone and we were watching a few different games together, but he didn't get the USF/UNR game, so I switched over to the Beavers and Wisconsin thinking USF was going to lose. Needless to say, I caught the replay yesterday. WOW! ****! IN-CRAY-EE-BLAY! USF looked totally gassed late in the game, but somehow found it in themselves. Great, great win. Really, it could be a defining victory for your season. I hope so anyway. Congratulations, and go get the 'Gurs! No letdown!
  9. Well, I'm going to assume after Wazzu's horrible performance last night that the UO/WSU game will probably be a 1 p.m. start. Not much marquee value. So, if the Bulls can get past the Wolf (space) Pack and the Gers, it should be a battle of undefeateds. Cool, we can make the bar by end of the first quarter if you're in Prime Time. Bullwinkle, I'd love nothing more than to catch USF at the J. It's on my bucket list, but of course, as far away as I am, I'll be obligated to do Disney and Universal, too. Maybe in '13! As far as beating the Toejams goes, I'm feeling pretty good about a potential split. SC certainly has more talent across the board than just about anybody (definitely anybody else in the PAC), but I think their lack of D-line depth is going to become an issue later in the season, and possible on their OL as well. Conversely, Oregon might have the best defense in their history this year. They're deep, experienced and talented, though still not SEC big. That doesn't mean that Barkley won't pick them apart, but I think they'll fare better this year than they did last. Anyway, I probably won't be able to see Chatanooga up here at the North Pole, but I'll definitely be tuned in to the Nevada game! Go Bulls!
  10. I just stopped in to wish good luck to my favorite “lower right coast†team and fans. USF, much like Oregon several years ago, has built something of a reputation for fading late in the season, justified or otherwise, but that will change eventually. Heck, Oregon is three-time defending league champion, Rose Bowl champ, and still gets the “can’t win the big one†label. Shake it off! I’ve got high hopes for the Bulls; don’t let me down! Your schedule looks challenging late, but do-able, and I have faith in Skip (although he’s no Chip, and I’m damned glad your Bucs didn’t steal Kelly away from us!) I was really hoping to talk my wife into going to Reno on the weekend of the 8th,and then just springing the football game on her, but family has gotten in the way of that. I hope those of you attending have a great time, although Nevada fans almost have a worse reputation for being obnoxious than Oregon fans (ask Boise State.) One question: Can you tell me the anticipated start time for the USF/FSU game? I’ll be at the Clink (Century Link Field - Seahawks home) on 9/29 watching the Ducks dismantle Mike Leach’s Wazzu Pirates, but that kickoff time isn’t set yet either. I’m a having a couple of friends up from Oregon and we’d like to catch the USF game on the tube if possible, but I lack DVR technology. Any clue would be helpful. Go Bulls! Go Ducks! WTD!
