  1. no, but everyone grows up wanting to play for a contender. hell, if urban meyer can turn a program in the middle of mormon country into a football powerhouse and win a bcs game, why cant leavitt in a football rabid state? please, dont give me that whole "they've been around longer," because utah is in a mid-major conference in a state where no one gives (or has ever given) a **** about football (compared to here, at least). this whole "we're so young" argument is getting tired. again, i reiterate-- it takes time to build tradition but it DOESNT take time to win.. and win NOW. remember, we're 10-13 in the past 2 years. we havent had a decent QB in over 5 years. PEOPLE, these are deficiencies! are we going to be using the same excuses 5 years from now? how about 10 years? at what point are you all going to come to your senses that we need a change? after another 2 years of going 10-13? after another bowl game shut out? people, at the rate we're going, this will turn into USF basketball (and we DONT want to go there). just a fun fact: ron zook had a better record than jim leavitt in playing in a D1A conference.. AND HE GOT FIRED. yet, we continue to keep CJL around. it's like we're becoming a trailer-trash abused wife in a marriage and finding excuses to stay with him [leavitt]. i, for one, will not stick around to watch our face kicked in and our fans traveling to other states for bowl games only to watch our team forget to show up.
  2. well, it's kind of pointless when they arent smart enough to maintain a 2.0 (or whatever it is) in Basket-weaving 101
  3. "they say if you cant score a single point in a bowl game, you dont deserve to be there.. well..."
  4. according to the appologists on this message board, most will say pat julmiste. however, i gotta go with kraky
  5. i think you guys are all forgetting about the economic impact of a stadium on campus. not only would it bring visitors to the area every saturday, more restaurants will pop up, as well as bars, and "student ghettos" will pop up with affordable housing for students (i.e.- like around doak campbell stadium). yet all you guys talk about is the lack of parking. the parking will happen, and fowler/fletcher isnt nearly the ghetto of overtown in miami or the downtown LA for USC. the park/walk will add to the environment of a gameday experience. i think many USF fans here have never been to a college football game on campus, and only think about the inconveniences to try to justify not having one. with the "inconvenience of parking" comes an exponential growth in economy, town-gown exposure, and overall gameday experience. something to think about. sure, UCF got shoved into their situation of building an OCS, but i think many would be lying of they said they didnt feel jealous over what they were about to get. ya it might be an erector set and there's still a lot to be desired, but stadiums are always expandable (i.e.- ben hill griffin stadium) and the return on the investment is 10-fold.
  6. [mods, for the 3rd time, do not delete this post: there is nothing obscene or inappropriate about it.  suppressing the thoughts of board members is reminiscent of stalin and hitler burning the books of their own citizens in an effort to suppress and sensor their opinions.] Message from Bulliever:  Your post was deleted because you are only banging the same drum you banged earlier...you stated your opinion that a point must be scored first.  Other posters have stated their opinion.  Repeating your opinion about scoring a point is unnecessary.  You are free to have your thoughts, try limiting them to the appropriate number of posts.  [smiley=spam3.gif] The newspaper story was to discuss Leavitt his success (which is undeniable) and his affection for USF and the area.  We got your opinion in your first post which has not been deleted.  If you have something new and on-topic to provide, you are welcome to do so.
  7. now watch the other board members reply and complain that the football stadium doesnt have massage chairs with happy endings.
  8. oh really? is that why leavitt recruited and brought in carlton hill, who was busted with his pants down in a classroom BEFORE he even set foot on USF's campus? how is that any different that recruiting a rhett bomar and his situation. like i have stated already, the point of this thread wasnt to "bash USF", it was to show that leavitt has recruited problem players in the past, why should we be hypocritical in if/how/why leavitt would recruit bomar to transfer to USF? BTW, i really dont see why you moved this thread. it relates to USF football more than the Tampa Bay general sports forum.
  9. he needs to worry about scoring AT LEAST A POINT IN A BOWL GAME before we can even whisper the words "promise land".. we're still not a blip on the radar. slow your roll.
  10. listen homeboy, if you want to extrapolate something that far-fetched from my post then more power to you.  unlike many board members, i do not force people to think the way that i think.  but if you need clarification from my standpoint: i believe that this QB will be a great addition to this program.  do i think he comes without flaws? no. but i do think his flaws are miniscule compared to that of the problems of our own players.  i bring up the issues of our own players as a comparison and contrast to any concerns that board members might have in my proposal to bring him in.  i present the differences as evidence that denying bomar because of his incidences would be hypocritical to a program that admits (or fails to admit) players with other infractions (i.e.- academic inadequacies). do i think white collar crimes are OK? no. but i'd take a white collar fellon who was busted for accepting extra schillings over someone who cant use the sine function on a Texas Instruments calculator.  let's face it, these things happen in college football programs all across america. however, the former can be rehabilitated, the latter is just plain scary to think that someone like that would be at an institution of higher learning, much less on a football field. if my opinion offends you, then i apologize but i wont retract my statement.
  11. im sorry but "academically challenged" and "accurately challeged" are far from any type of put-downs. in fact, they are the most politically correct ways that i could have said it. my point has been made and no one has brought up a legitimate reason why it wouldnt work out-- especially considering the track record of our own athletes and their own issues dwarf that of bomar's. bring the boy in, maybe he'll teach our players a lesson about how to excel on the field and in the classroom. as well as bring home some bowl trophies
  12. :-? notice how you can't refute the facts. 1 QB-turned-WR and 10 would-be-recruits-named-ineligible later and this whole bomar thing starts to sound more appealing.
  13. he's not a criminal.  he doesn't have a drug problem.  he's not academically ineligible.  he isnt nearly as bad as our current QBs.  he led OU to a bowl game victory as a freshman (something our QBs cant say they have ever done).  he's the victim of a corrupt business venture that was OU football.  this guy got in trouble for sticking his hand out and keeping his mouth shut as OU boosters lined his pocket with dinero--  a saint compared to the academically challenged carlton hill or the accurately challenged pat julmiste. oh, and let's not forget about over 1/3 of our own recruit class this past year who had their own issues before enrolling in classes this year.  bomar would be the least of our worries and the most of the reason why we could win the big east.  fellow bulls, he needs us as much as we need him.
  14. actually, we went .500 last season and 10-13 in the past 2 years, but i digress
